FLEXO PRINTING MODERNIZATION (VACUUM SHEET TRANSFER, CARDAN SHAFT)

VACUUM SHEET TRANSFER. Modernization of flexographic printing presses includes modifications and auxiliary equipment such as vacuum sheet transport systems between individual print units. This transport mechanism operates on the principle of continuous vacuum suction. The generated negative pressure holds the sheet against the transport plate, while driven rollers advance it to the next section of the press. Throughout the transport process, the sheet is not subjected to any mechanical deformation. This system is installed to significantly reduce job changeover times by eliminating the need to adjust feed rollers found in mechanical inter-unit transport systems and to improve registration accuracy. Furthermore, it facilitates better drying of the printing inks and prevents smearing.

DRIVE VIA CARDAN SHAFT. Another modernization option, primarily for older flexographic printing presses, involves driving the print decks using an axially flexible shaft instead of the main chain drive. Remaining chain drives are replaced with toothed belt drives, which ensure significantly quieter and more precise machine operation. This system is installed to improve registration accuracy (the axially flexible shaft compensates for inaccuracies originating from the preceding print deck), achieve quieter machine operation, and enhance the precision of secondary drives.

For the BOBST FLEXO 1575, we also offer an option to increase the maximum sheet width to 1.600 mm. This allows the modified machine to supply automatic die-cutters with a maximum sheet width of 1.600 mm, without any limitations.

Furthermore, for BOBST FLEXO 1575 and BOBST FLEXO 1600 machines, we offer automatic adjustment of the print cylinder orientation. For repeat orders, the system utilizes data stored in memory to automatically position the print cylinders for correct registration.
